The Caribbean Fishery Management Council website is a great example of using the web for
presentation of results of recent research efforts. We have a lot to learn from their work.

Take a look at the NOS advanced habitat mapping project in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Here's a direct link to the NOS mapserver for Puerto Rico.

The next mapping scale to be attempted is sequential high resolution digital stills. With synchronization
of strobe and shutter, images can be obtained at up to 8 knots and still provide slight overlap for registration.
Here is an example of coral habitats taken March 2002 off the southern coast of Puerto Rico for use in
conjunction with an ongoing sidescan sonar survey. This instruments are being developed with funding
from the Northeast Consortium. See DSL Video Survey for more complete project description.

Thanks to Jose Rivera-Colon, Graciela Garcia-Moliner, and Miguel Rolon for their gracious hospitality,
insights, and kindness.
