Much of the original impetus for the development of this website started in 1994 with my introduction to several forward looking individuals associated with the Coastal Ocean Development Alliance, in particular Dot Leonard and Michael Willinsky. There were a number of contributors at that time as well, and although there was not the financial and technogical ability to bring the dream quickly to reality then, it has begun to take shape. There was a long way to go.

William Hamilton of Salem State College and Janet Campbell of the University of New Hampshire for their trust and for reawakening my desire to learn in an academic setting.

Ed Backus, from the EcoTrust organization for access to mapping software that has made the difference in communicating much of what I have wanted to get across both in meetings and via the web.

Chris Polloni of the USGS, WHFC, for patiently putting up with the sluggish pace of my learning curve relating to what's available, what might be done with it and a 'let's do it' attitude.

Paul Rago, Steve Murawski, and Steve Edwards of the NMFS Northeast Fishery Science Center for having patience with my many remedial questions about basic fisheries science and responding with both genuine interest and humor.

Scott Gallager of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for immediately seeing how his efforts might be applied to solve immediate and long term industry concerns.

Cliff Goudey and the MIT SeaGrant Program for their continuing support.
